• WE4F 2.0 - Call for early-stage firms in Syria (Track 4) - EOI Application

  • The WE4F 2.0 call for early-stage firms that operates in Syria aiming to enable the production of more food with efficient and sustainable usage of water and energy along the value chain from farming to end-users, and to impact food security, gender, and poverty reduction in an environmentally sustainable way. The call focuses on solutions within the Water–Energy–Food (WEF) nexus and climate resilience, including improvements in logistics, food processing, warehousing, and digital market access. It also encourages circular economy approaches, such as sustainable packaging and food waste recycling, alongside organic farming and land restoration to prevent farmland degradation. In addition, the Programme supports innovative water reuse solutions beyond traditional agriculture and the development of sustainable, export-oriented high-value crops to enhance income generation and trade performance. Track 4 specifically targets early-stage firms with relevant WEF/climate resilient solutions with strong potential to increases food and water security as well as becomes a vehicle for inclusive sustainable development in Syria. The Programme provides financial and technical support to help scale impactful innovations. Individual awards is up to USD 30,000. Projects may run for up to two years, with funding disbursed in accordance with approved budgets and milestones. Applications are submitted through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process and are reviewed by the WE4F 2.0 MENA Hub, with submissions accepted until July 2026.

  • 11. Grant request and Matching Funds

    National Call for early-stage firms in Syria awards are expected to be for up to 30,000 USD depending on the type of funding requested. The period of performance for individual awards is up to two years; the actual period of performance for each award will be determined at the time of award. The regional call grants are disbursed on a reimbursement basis (i.e., the grantee is to submit a monthly invoice for the Allowable Costs as defined by the Grant Agreement as well as the needed back-up documentation). The national call awarded innovators are encouraged to match the grant by any amount.  Funds invested by your organization, toward the Water-Energy-Food Innovation you are applying with, that supplement the grant. This could be monetary (excluding funds from WE4F Founders/donors) or in-kind contributions (e.g., land, equipment, warehouses, salaries of your staff allocated to the proposed WE4F Innovation). In-kind contributions could be given a monetary value in the budget. To help ensure the sustainability of your Innovation, the Call for Early-Stage Firms in Syria (Track 4) awardees are encouraged to provide as much cost matching as they reasonably can (cash/cash equivalent and/or eligible in-kind contributions), Matching (whether in-kind or cash/cash equivalent) is based on funding provided by WE4F 2.0. The funds must pay for activities that further the growth, development, or commercialization of the organization’s technology (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, marketing).
